Summer Vacation - Here We Come!

Summer vacation is nearly upon us. Though the theatre will be empty for a few months and many of us will miss eagerly working on shows, we all look forward to recharging our creative batteries to come back with amazing talent and effort for our 2017-2018 season. As I mentioned in my previous post, we have awesome shows in store for you all, and we can hardly wait!

If you get a chance to, see local shows over the summer. The theatre community is so strong in Duluth and support is always greatly appreciated. Enjoy your summer, the (hopefully) warm weather, and the break from classes! I look forward to blogging for you this September! :)
As always, it has been a pleasure blogging for you.
Have a great summer everyone!

Final Performance of Orestes Wraps Up 2016-2017 Performance Season

On behalf of everyone at the CSS theatre, thank you to everyone who attended performances of "Orestes: Blood and Light". It is your support that helps us to keep being able to do what we love here at the CSS theatre. Sunday's performance marks the end of the 2016-2017 performance season. As we take apart the set and close up the shops for summer break, we look forward to what is to come next season. Here's a sneak peek of what is to come next school year:

Sense and Sensibility - A playful new adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters - sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne - after their father's sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh female voice, the play is full of humor, emotional depth, and bold theatricality. Sense and Sensibility examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?
Elleosynary - This play probes into the delicate relationship of three singular women: the grandmother, Dorothea, who has sought to assert her independence through strong-willed eccentricity; her brilliant daughter, Artie (Artemis), who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and Artie's daughter, Echo, a child of exceptional intellect - and sensitivity - whom Artie has abandoned to an upbringing by Dorothea.

The third play is still being determined. Sounds like an exciting season here at the theatre! I will be returning this fall to keep you all in the loop on all of the news going on here at the CSS theatre.

Happy Easter Everyone, and Have a Great Break!
